9/11 Memorial Ceremony

9/11 Memorial Ceremony

Annual 9/11 memorial ceremony honoring first responders—a meaningful civic gathering for families.

Each September 11th, our community gathers for a meaningful ceremony led by local Fire Department personnel to remember those lost in the attacks. The program runs from 7:45 a.m. through 9:30 a.m., concluding with a laying of flowers at significant times throughout the morning. This is a solemn occasion for reflection and remembrance. The ceremony has a contemplative format with no structured program, so families can participate at their own pace—arriving and departing whenever feels right for your group. Admission is completely free and open to the public. The memorial takes place outside the Overland Park Fire Training Center, making it easily accessible for anyone wishing to pay their respects.
