Central Avenue Dia de los Muertos Parade
Join Kansas City's Second Annual Dia de los Muertos Parade celebrating the joy and traditions of Day of the Dead.
Join the Central Avenue Betterment Association for this community celebration honoring loved ones who have passed. The parade brings together families and friends to remember and support the spiritual journey of those no longer with us. This meaningful tradition, recognized by UNESCO as part of humanity's intangible cultural heritage, welcomes everyone to participate and experience the joy and culture of the occasion.
Throughout the event, you'll find plenty to enjoy as a family: high school marching bands perform, local artists display work, and face painting stations let kids get creative. Live music and a DJ keep the energy going, while food vendors offer refreshments. Visitors can view ofrendas (traditional altars) and watch the Walking Catrinas—people in traditional Day of the Dead attire. The parade itself is the highlight of the evening. Whether you're looking to honor family heritage, learn about the culture, or simply enjoy a festive community gathering, this is a welcoming event for all ages.
