Fall Homeschool Days
Homeschool program exploring farm life and history at Mahaffie in Olathe.
Your family is invited to step back in time at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm, where the Little House on the Prairie comes to life. During this special event, students will experience hands-on learning inspired by Laura Ingalls Wilder's world while exploring an actual 1860s farmstead. Activities include riding in a stagecoach, touring the historic home, observing blacksmithing demonstrations, watching bread and meals prepared on an authentic cookstove, playing period games, and meeting the farm animals. The farm operates as an open-house style program, so families can move through at their own pace during their chosen time slot.
Registration is just $7 per child (ages 5–17), with free admission for children 4 and under and one complimentary adult per paid student. Everything is included—there are no hidden costs or add-on fees. Sessions run from 10 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on both days. The site operates rain or shine, though outdoor stagecoach rides may pause during lightning or extreme heat. Walk-in registrations are welcome if space remains. Call 913-971-5111 with questions.
