Fallasburg Park: Build a boat, will it float?

Build and test a boat in this hands-on STEM activity.

Your child will get hands-on experience exploring what makes objects buoyant by constructing their own mini boat. With all materials provided, you'll work together to build and test your creation in the water. Once everyone's boats are ready, the group will race them to see which ones travel the fastest and farthest. It's a great way for young learners to ask questions, observe, and discover the answers through direct experience. This program is designed for children ages 2–6 with their caregivers, though older and younger siblings are welcome with registration. Note that this is not a drop-off program—a registered adult must supervise children at all times. The activity takes place outdoors and may include walking on unpaved park paths, so dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. Pre-registration is recommended since space is limited, and registration stays open until one hour before the start time. Walk-ins are accepted if spots remain available. Adults are $5 and children ages 2+ are $8; children under 2 are free.
