FOTZ Early Days

Friends of the Zoo members get a chance to explore the zoo during cooler morning hours with FOTZ Early Days. This special program kicks off at 9:00 am on select Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer months, letting you beat the heat while enjoying the animals and attractions. Several zoo areas open early just for this program, including Zoo Central, Tiger Trail, and Australasia, along with popular spots like the Beastro Cafe, KC Zoo Railroad, Flying Flamingo, and Endangered Species Carousel. The Africa section, including the African Tram, African Sky Safari, and Kenyan Cruise, opens at its regular time of 9:30 am. This is a fantastic perk for FOTZ members—the early access is completely free with your membership. If you're not yet a member, these early openings are just one of many year-round benefits worth considering. It's a great way to experience the zoo with fewer crowds and more comfortable temperatures, making it perfect for families who want to see animals when they're most active.
