Free Weekend Fun: Nouveau Notes

Free creative workshop on timekeeping at Nelson-Atkins Museum—make your own clock.

Spend an afternoon creating and exploring art at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Kids can design their own postcard inspired by the work of artist Alfonse Mucha in the Bloch Building lobby, then head into the galleries to discover how artists used colors, shapes, and lines to craft beautiful pieces. Museum Guide volunteers will be on hand throughout the afternoon to help guide your exploration. This drop-in event is completely free—no registration or tickets needed. Families can arrive anytime during the three-hour window and stay as long as they'd like. It's a wonderful way to spend a weekend afternoon enjoying art together, whether your family is brand new to museums or already regulars. The Nelson-Atkins is known as one of Kansas City's top free family attractions, making this a budget-friendly outing with plenty to see and do.
