GloWild: Hidden Treasure

Glowing nighttime adventure at Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium with illuminated trails and displays.

GloWild: Hidden Treasure is an evening light festival at the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium featuring an immersive treasure-hunt theme. Guests walk a mile-long glowing path illuminated by elaborate handcrafted sculptures inspired by shipwrecks, buried treasure, jungle camps, and expedition sites. Created by over 150 artisans using steel and thousands of feet of fabric, the displays guide visitors through clues and dazzling scenes designed to feel like discovering hidden riches. Most families complete the route in about an hour, with plenty of photo opportunities along the way. The festival runs Wednesday through Sunday evenings from 6 to 10 pm (closed Mondays and Tuesdays except during Thanksgiving week). Visitors can ride the Endangered Species Carousel free from 6–9 pm if weather allows. Wednesday guests also gain access to Sobela Ocean Aquarium during their visit. The path includes food and beverage options, plus seasonal activities and themed lanterns. Consult the zoo's operating calendar for specific dates, as hours and pricing vary throughout the season.
