GloWild: Hidden Treasure
Glowing after-hours zoo adventure with illuminated animals, trails, and family fun.
GloWild: Hidden Treasure is an evening light festival that transforms the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium into a glowing adventure zone. Guests follow a mile-long illuminated path designed to feel like a treasure hunt, encountering elaborate handmade displays inspired by shipwrecks, buried treasure sites, jungle camps, and expedition scenes. Created by over 150 artisans using thousands of feet of fabric and steel, the installations feature intricate lighting effects, clues, and photo opportunities throughout. Plan to spend about an hour completing the route.
The event runs Wednesday through Sunday evenings from 6 to 10 p.m., with the lantern paths open starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday visitors get bonus access to Sobela Ocean Aquarium during their visit. The free Endangered Species Carousel operates from 6 to 9 p.m. (weather permitting). Food and entertainment options are available along the way. Note that the festival is closed Mondays and Tuesdays except during Thanksgiving week, so check the operating calendar before your visit. Tickets are required; visit the zoo's website to purchase.
