Hummingbird Festival
Celebrate migrating Ruby Throated Hummingbirds at George Owens Nature Center with family activities.
Bring your family to celebrate Missouri's tiniest bird during its fall migration at this free weekend festival. George Owens Nature Center will feature over 50 hummingbird feeders where you can watch these incredible creatures up close as they prepare to head south for winter. Throughout the three days, you'll find hands-on activities including building your own hummingbird perch, bird-themed games for kids, interactive displays, and a fascinating look at replica hummingbird skulls and eggs.
Want to learn more? The center offers two educational classes each day—"Attracting Hummingbirds to Your Yard" at 10:30 a.m. and "Tracking Migration Patterns" at 1 p.m.—perfect for anyone curious about these amazing birds. All activities are included at no cost, making this an ideal outing for nature-loving families. Hours vary slightly each day, so check before you go to plan your visit accordingly.
