Kansas City Renaissance Festival
Multi-weekend Renaissance Festival in Bonner Springs with crafts, games, jousting & more.
The Kansas City Renaissance Festival is a massive celebration that draws around 200,000 visitors each year. What started as a fundraiser for the Kansas City Art Institute back in 1977 has grown into one of the largest Renaissance festivals in the country. This September, the festival kicks off with "Buccaneers and Ballgowns," an enchanting weekend where pirates, royalty, merfolk, and adventurers come together under lantern light for a magical experience.
Throughout the fall season, the festival transforms with seven different themed weekends, each with its own unique character—from Viking adventures and Celtic celebrations to fantasy realms and dog-friendly festivities. The festival runs on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) from early September through mid-October, with some special extended hours. Whether your family loves costumes, live entertainment, international food, or just exploring a vibrant community celebration, there's something to discover at each themed weekend. It's a great outing for families looking for an immersive, festive atmosphere.
