Legacy Blast
Summer concert series at Legacy Park—music for all ages.
Legacy Blast is a free Independence Day celebration hosted by Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation at Legacy Park. The gates open at 5:00 p.m., giving families plenty of time to settle in before the main event—a choreographed fireworks display synchronized to music at 9:30 p.m. You can tune in to 94.9 KCMO to hear the musical accompaniment during the show. Throughout the evening, there's live DJ entertainment, food trucks and concessions available for purchase, and activities designed for children ages 12 and under.
Since this is a popular community event, arrive early to secure parking—the park has reached capacity as early as 8:15 p.m. in past years, and gates close at 9:00 p.m. or when parking fills up. Plan for significant traffic congestion before and after the event in the surrounding area. Bring blankets or lawn chairs for comfortable seating. Note that grills, alcohol, personal fireworks, tobacco, vape, and marijuana are not permitted. If weather doesn't cooperate, the event will be rescheduled for Sunday, July 5, 2026.
