Mutts for Mental Health
Family-friendly event celebrating animals and mental wellness.
Teens are invited to spend a summer afternoon volunteering at Wayside Waifs, a local animal shelter. This event brings together young people to help with hands-on shelter work while spending time around animals—something that research shows genuinely improves how we feel. You'll also meet other teens and learn about Zero Reasons Why, an organization focused on mental health and building supportive communities. The event is completely free, and snacks and drinks are provided.
The whole afternoon is designed by and for teens through the Zero Reasons Why Teen Council, so it's a space where young people lead. No volunteer experience is necessary, and whether your teen is new to the organization or already involved, there's room to participate at whatever level feels comfortable. It's a great way to give back, connect with peers who care about mental health, and discover how community really does matter for your wellbeing. Registration is required.
