Nelson Atkins Summer Camps
Art-focused summer camps at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art offers week-long summer camps where kids ages 6–12 dive into art classes inspired by the museum's world-class collection. During this particular session, campers explore global art and cultures across Asia, Europe, and North America, creating their own drawings, paintings, and prints. Each day includes four hours of instruction from museum educators (10 a.m.–noon and 1:30–3:30 p.m.), plus additional activities and games led by camp counselors. All art supplies are included, and parents are welcome to explore the museum's galleries during camp hours.
Cost is $400 for members and $500 for the general public. Campers should bring a nut-free lunch with a cold pack—the museum provides water bottles. Kids with severe allergies should bring their own EpiPen and know how to use it. The program asks that campers have prior classroom experience, be fully potty-trained, and meet age requirements to ensure everyone has a safe, positive experience. The museum has completed extensive background checks on all staff and instructors.
