Pop! Fireworks Family Fun and Print Shop Activity
Family-friendly fireworks and print shop crafts at The Rabbit hOle.
Ring in the Fourth of July at The Rabbit hOle with 2026 Caldecott Medal winner Cátia Chien. You'll hear from the illustrator about her award-winning book *Fireworks*, written by Matthew Burgess, a vibrant picture book celebrating summer and family traditions. The event kicks off with a presentation from Cátia, followed by a book signing and hands-on fireworks craft activities for all ages. Every ticket purchase includes a copy of *Fireworks* to take home.
If you'd like to extend the experience, limited spots are available for a special Print Shop add-on. After the presentation, participants can create their own letterpress fireworks poster inspired by Cátia's artwork—a printmaking activity suited for both children and adults. Kids ages 5 and up will also receive a $5 book voucher to spend at Lucky Rabbit Books. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Note that museum admission is separate, and you'll want to reach out to programs@rabbitholekc.org about a week ahead if you need ASL interpretation or other accommodations.
