Red, White & Tru

Red, White & Tru holiday celebration at Harry S. Truman Presidential Library.

Head to the Truman Presidential Library on July 4th for a free, family-friendly celebration of America's 250th anniversary. The festivities run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature live music from 3 Trails West, a Kansas City band known for authentic Western swing and cowboy sounds with plenty of humor and audience participation. Your family can enjoy complimentary ice cream and frozen treats while taking in the entertainment. Beyond the music, there's plenty to keep kids engaged. Professional face painters will be on hand, and children can participate in living-history activities. One highlight is an interactive chalk mural of the Declaration of Independence where visitors can add their own names as "signers" for America's next chapter. The event is completely free and open to the public—no museum admission required—making it an easy, budget-friendly way to spend Independence Day.
