Summer Activities: Love — 1860s Style!

Living-history summer activity exploring 1860s courtship at Mahaffie Farm.

Step back in time at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm for a day immersed in 1860s life. This week's special theme explores love and courtship as it existed during that era, with themed stations throughout the grounds. Your family will experience authentic living history activities including touring the historic farmhouse, watching skilled demonstrations of blacksmithing and cookstove cooking, and learning about agricultural heritage in the livestock barn. Kids can meet farm animals, help tend the garden, play period-appropriate games, and enjoy a stagecoach ride. Admission is $9 for adults and $7 for children ages 5–11, with free entry for children 4 and under. The admission price covers all activities, making it an affordable full-day outing. Families with larger groups of 10 or more are welcome and should register ahead of time. The farm offers something for every age, blending education with hands-on fun in a genuine historical setting.
