Summer Activities – Schooling: 1860s Style!
Step back to the 1860s for hands-on schoolhouse lessons at Mahaffie Farm.
This interactive living-history experience transports families back to a one-room schoolhouse of the 1860s. Children participate in authentic period lessons, using era-appropriate materials and teaching methods to understand what education looked like generations ago. It's a hands-on way for kids to appreciate how school has changed while experiencing the discipline, slate boards, and classical subjects of frontier America. A great complement to American history studies.
